As our entire society has gradually come to realize the importance of higher education，more and more corporations and individuals have donated money to their alma maters and other universities. Regarding the use of this newly arrived funding, people seem to hold different opinions. I would strongly advocate that the university should arrange the construction of a new gym in the dormitory with the available funding, instead of the alternate plans for a room of quiet study or an entertainment place, in which students may watch films and play video games.

The reason I am against the construction of study rooms in the dormitory is that the function of such rooms is in conflict with that of the library. The library is a hub of knowledge which is exactly where a university student should be studying in, with its quiet environment, convenient access to books and articles as well as to the Internet, and an atmosphere created by fellow students in which one may enjoy the process of studying. If the school is to construct study rooms in the dormitory, I believe that on the one hand, it would be almost impossible to maintain a beneficial order in such a room without any personnel seeing to the matter, and that on the other hand, it would encourage the students to study in the environment of the dormitory, one that is by definition for resting instead of studying. As a result, it would get harder for students to relax in their dormitories because their work and rest are no longer separated as they used to be.

Furthermore, I do not believe that the plan for entertainment rooms would be an effective use of the money. While I do acknowledge a university's duty to provide necessary amenities for students to enjoy a healthy and balanced life of both study and entertainment, it is clear that extra entertainment facilities in the dormitory are not only unnecessary but also potentially harmful in the long-run. Constructing an entertainment place can be seen as an encouragement of entertainment over studying and exercising, which is not a desirable effect.

Thus there remains the best option: constructing an gym in the dormitory. Sports are critical for university students' personal development, and a healthy amount of exercise is necessary for a student to succeed academically and socially. Opening an gym in the dormitory is a great signal from the school administration that the university encourages students to exercise. A fully equipped gym can prove to be not only an outlet for the stressful academic life but also a source of euphoria for those who enjoy exercising.

All in all, my suggestion to the university is to build an exercise room in the dormitory to improve the quality of student life.

With the technological and economic development, nowadays, college students can live in well-equipped dorms. We can find fancy Jacuzzis, large TVs and even refrigerators in some college dorms. Considering the question of what the college should build in the dormitory, I think building an entertaining room is the best option.

It is undeniable that a quiet room for study can offer a place for students to focus on their homework and a gym could provide them with a place to do exercise and stay in shape. However, these facilities are not necessary because a normal college has at least one middle-sized library and a fitness center for students. Therefore, it is not necessary that college dorms consist of these facilities, and there are apparent advantages to build an entertainment room which has a home theater and allows students to play video games.

First, an entertainment room offers students an opportunity to set aside their busy lives. As we all know, college life can be very busy and stressful; students usually are heavily loaded with school work. For instance, students may need to deal with presentations, mid-term and final exams during one single semester. There are not many ways for them to release the academic pressure. If they have an entertainment room, they can watch movies or play video games together, otherwise, some of the students may be crushed by the overwhelming stress. In fact, recent research done by the University of Chicago shows a positive correlation between leisure time and students' academic performance. It shows that students that spend more time on leisure activities tend to have a highergrade point average (GPA). Therefore, we can infer that building an entertainment room could help to improve the academic performance of the students.

Moreover, an entertainment room offers an opportunity for students to play with their friends and strengthen the relationship with each other. Playing video games and watching films together not only help students escape from their busy academic life, but also help them make friends with other students studying different majors. Through this inter-discipline communication and connection, students can understand their respective majors from a different angle. Also, students can spend their time in the entertainment room to get to know others who come from different places throughout the country or even from other continents. Students can broaden their horizon by interacting with people from different cultures and have a more comprehensive understanding of the world. For example, coming from a small town in New Jersey, I became acquainted with some students who later turned out to be my best friends in college while teaming up in a video game. These people came from different states and even from different countries, such as India and South Africa. Communicating with them has truly broadened my global perspective, which later turned out to be tremendously helpful to my career in business.

To draw a conclusion, it is more beneficial for the colleges to build an entertainment room because it offers students an opportunity to relax and improve the relationship with their friends.
