The 33rd Statistical Report on China's Internet Development
(January 2014)
Preface
In 1997, the Chinese government decided to let the China Internet Network Information Center(CNNIC) organize relevant Internet organizations to jointly carry out an Internet development survey. Ever since then, CNNIC has published 32 statistical reports on China's Internet development, and this report is the 33rd one. The Internet has become a key sector that influences the development of our society and economy and changes people's lifestyles. All these CNNIC's reports have witnessed the whole development process of China's soaring Internet industry. With precise and objective data, the reports provide a significant basis for government departments, enterprises and other circles to understand China's Internet development and make relevant decisions. They thus have attracted much attention from all circles and have been cited widely both at home and abroad.
Since 1998, CNNIC has issued a Statistical Report on China's Internet Development (hereinafter abbreviated as the Report) every January and July by convention. The continuous surveys and studies on the size of the country's Internet users as well as their structural features, Internet access modes and network applications have been conducted in the 33rd Report, which follows regular contents and style.
Data collection in this Report has also received great support from all walks of life including the government and enterprises. All surveys have gone smoothly under the guidance of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and data collection of basic resources has been completed in time with the close cooperation of Internet organizations, survey websites and the media. We hereby express our cordial gratitude to all of them. Meanwhile, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Internet users who have participated in our 33rd statistical survey on the country's Internet development.
