Installation types

When the vRealize Operations initial setup program begins, as we will see later in this chapter, you can select one of the following installation options (or types):

  • Express Installation: This option is the quickest and easiest option. Use this option to set up the first node in a vRealize Operations cluster. This option uses the default values for all the configuration options.
  • New Installation: Use this option to set up the first node in a vRealize Operations cluster. However, unlike Express Installation, you can configure advanced configuration options, such as:
    • Password for the admin user account
    • Choose between your own certificate or the default certificate
    • The name of the node
    • The name of your NTP server
  • Expand an Existing Installation: Use this option to add nodes to the cluster, after the first node has already been configured.
